On July 19th, 2011, Sarah Montgomery died as she had lived, with dignity and grace, attended by her husband and three children, and held closely in the hearts of her many friends. A brain tumor ended her life at age 67.

Born outside of London, England, on July 8th, 1944, she was the second child of Geoffrey and Davida Rogers. She attended the London College of Printing, earning a degree in typography. While working in the office of world renown Hans Schleger, she acquired skills that would shape her graphic design career.

An ardent curiosity to see America brought her to this country. She later moved to Vermont, where she met Ted Montgomery. They settled in Moretown, bought 32 acres of land with a house and pond, and were married there on a heart shaped garden in 1979.

Sarah’s freelance graphic design practice garnered clients from all over Vermont. Her inspired graphics, logos, web sites and branding appear throughout the business community. It was Sarah’s humor, talent and capacity to be both a social and business friend to her clients that became a hallmark of her working style.

With Ted and another couple, she co-founded the Ten Stones Community where they built their home. With her sweet, engaging smile, she was a social cornerstone in the neighborhood, treasured by all, never at a loss to help neighbors, prune the landscape, serve on committees, or share her many design skills.

She loved raising her children, cooking, gardening, opera, good literature, traveling to see family in England, and relaxing on beaches in Hawai’i. Hers was a most gracious kindness that attracted and nurtured many close friendships.
